Abstract: High-purity quartz is a critical foundational material that underpins the development of both emerging and future industries, and its resource security therefore carries substantial strategic significance. From a global perspective, this study systematically reviews the distribution and geological characteristics of high-quality quartz deposits, revealing that premium resources are predominantly concentrated in countries such as the United States, China, Australia, Norway, and Russia. In China, high-grade quartz deposits are mainly located in regions including the Eastern Qinling Mountains in Henan, Altay in Xinjiang, and the southern foothills of the Qinling Mountains in Hubei, characterized by diverse genetic types, clustered mineralization ages, and distinct quality zoning. Against this backdrop, China's quartz resources demonstrate several advantages, including abundant overall reserves, a comprehensive spectrum of ore types, and continuous advances in purification technologies. In light of the evolving international political and economic landscape, it is recommended that China intensify exploration, evaluation, and beneficiation research of domestic high-quality quartz resources, while simultaneously diversifying import sources from countries such as Norway and Russia. Establishing a coordinated security framework based on “domestic and international dual circulation” will be essential to ensuring long-term stability and resilience in the supply of high-purity quartz.
